DAKAR-PLATEAU, SENEGAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Pasadena Sister Cities Committee, Inc. Student Exchange Program

April 16, 2024

The Pasadena Sister Cities Committee Student Exchange Delegation is currently enjoying a remarkable adventure in Dakar-Plateau, Senegal. Today, they had the honor of spending the day with Mayor Ndoye, and tomorrow, they will be welcomed into his home for dinner—an experience they will cherish for a lifetime, made possible by their involvement with the Pasadena Sister Cities Committee. Mayor Ndoye's commitment to fostering the success of our cities' partnership is evident, as he urged us to continue our collaborative efforts.

Makia, Elise, and their chaperone, MaryEtta, had a rewarding day at Adja M.Y. Diagne School, engaging with students aged 5 to 10. The youngsters eagerly shared their current lessons with our delegates, leaving Makia and Elise impressed by the students' remarkable proficiency at such young ages.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all who support the growth and development of our children, particularly Rev. Dr. Larry E. Campbell, Dr. Yolanda Gorman, Barbra McPheeters, Candy Renick, Shirley Taylor, Dianne Kennedy, Karen Smith Robinson, India Keys, Sandi Hamilton, Carolyn West, PSCC Executive Committee and members. And we will forever acknowledge that this achievement was made possible by the legacy of the late Councilmember John J. Kennedy, who is surely looking down with a smile from above.

The community's admiration for our work was palpable, leading two new donors to join the Pasadena Sister Committee, Inc. this week. Our Executive Committee and board members are thrilled by the strides our organization is making, and we remain hopeful that our collective efforts will continue to benefit our community.

We eagerly anticipate the return of our students and look forward to hearing about their enriching experiences firsthand. On behalf of our membership, we express heartfelt appreciation to everyone who champions the youth in our community.
